The Goose Island brand is owned by giant corporation Anheuser-Busch InBev, so many people will, understandably, dismiss its’ craft beer credentials. Setting that aside however, how good is the beer?
The aroma is not overpowering with hints of caramel, and the beer has a slightly treacly texture. Flavour-wise, it is hoppier than the average IPA and also tends to the maltier end of the scale. Sweet toffee flavours dominate. It’s certainly not the most subtle of beers, but it’s a good solid IPA that I’d happily drink again, even if I’m not going to go out of my way to seek it out.
