Given that this beer is brewed with a plant known as lemon verbena, I was expecting this to be a super-citrusy beer. Whilst the aroma was certainly citrusy, the flavour was more complex than I expected. The first hit is a strong, smoky flavour, almost as if this were a porter in disguise. It then settles down into a more typical pale ale taste, but this is still one of those beers where each mouthful seems to bring new flavours. One of my recent favourites.
