Signature, as well as their range of core beers, have put out a series of beers in collaboration with bands, from metallers Mastodon to UK rapper Rodney P. Safe Mode is a collaboration with Brighton rockers Tigercub, who are not a band I’m particularly familiar with. I’m always slightly wary of this kind of collaboration, as it smacks a bit of novelty (although if any of my favourite bands were involved I’d be all over it, I’m sure), but judging the beer on its’ own merits, I’m a big fan of this one.
Safe Mode is a Belgian pale with a lovely chestnutty-red hue, and an oaky aroma. It has a deep, rich flavour compared to most pales, and the sarsaparilla root which is used in the brewing process adds a fruity flavour with sweet hints of toffee and caramel. Well worth a try if you can get hold of it.
